Jennifer

Brunelli

Dietitian / Swimming

Jennifer (VanAssen) Brunelli MS, RD, LDN is a 7-time All American swimmer who attended the University of South Carolina and graduated with degrees in Marketing and Management.  Jennifer has worked on nutrition education, meal planning, body composition assessments, eating disorders, food intolerances and allergies, performance kitchen design, grocery store tours, supplement analysis, etc.  She has worked with a wide range of clientele including age group, masters, and professional athletes, along with collegiate and professional teams.  Jennifer is the owner of RDpro, LLC, a nutrition consulting business in the Charlotte area that she opened in July 2011.  She is also in her third year with Carolina Panthers as the sports dietitian working directly with the players.

Currently Jennifer consults for the United States Performance Center (http://www.unitedstatesperformancecenter.com/) and SmartCore (http://www.smartcorefit.com/).  Jennifer is a nutrition spokesperson and wellness resource with numerous media outlets.  In 2016 Jennifer received a BOB award by Charlotte magazine for the Best Dietitian in Charlotte. Previously she was the Director of Sports Nutrition at NC State University as well as a team member of LiveWell Carolinas where she worked closely with the Charlotte YMCA system.

Jennifer was National Champion runner-up in the 100 and 200 freestyles at the 2004 NCAA Division 1 Championships.  She competed in the 2004 Olympic Trials in the 50, 100, and 200 frees.  After graduating she was named the 2004 University of South Carolina’s Female Student Athlete of the Year.  She later went on to Arizona State where she earned a degree in Dietetics.  In 2009 Jennifer and her husband moved back to the Carolinas.  Upon arrival in the Carolinas Jennifer worked for the University of North Carolina’s Nutrition Research Institute doing epidemiological research under Dr.Sangita Sharma.  After 6 months with the NRI she decided to further her education and went back to school again to complete her Masters in Human Nutrition from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC.  Jennifer also completed her RD clinical rotations and certification through the Winthrop University Dietetic Internship.

 

Jennifer is married to Nicholas Brunelli, previously an American record holder and World Champion swimmer.  They have two children, daughter Sloane and son Nathan.
